Some of you have mentioned the creative, literary use of allegory which is valid and enjoyable, not to mentione, helpful. However, what Ramm is showing us is that in referrence to the Bible, it was mis-used historically. The point is, the Bible is NOT an allegory. It is a literal recording of Jewish and Early Christian history. (We will discuss the other genres later.) These things did happen and the lessons learned referred to the Bible characters first, and then to us as they are applicable. We are tracing the roots of what became error. You will see as you continue to read that the church finally got on track. But, we must be careful to not repeat the historical mistakes.
