Lecture Question Module # 11 Joseph Workman
Question:
Let's venture out a bit. Find for me 2 or 3 symbols and types that are not listed in this lecture. Keep to the interpretation rules.
Abraham’s call to sacrifice was a type that wasn’t covered in the lecture. The picture was one of the greatest sacrifice. It was one’s own son and Abraham was laying down His life in obedience. Then God provided a sacrifice to take His son’s place. It’s such an awesome picture of what God did for us through His Son Jesus Christ. That is one of my favorite types in the Old Testament.
I have been reading through the OT and have recently finished the book of Esther. It came to my mind that some of the things she typified were things that we as believes has because of Jesus Christ. In the second chapter it talks about the favor she found in the Kings eyes (vs. 17). Also how that when she entered the Palace she found favor with the King and He lowered His scepter to her. To me it rang true in my Spirit that as I am in Christ, that I have favor before Him. I can come before the King and He can’t wait for me to come to Him. I am not sure of all the Historical facts and such that go along with the book of Esther but that was something that sort of stood out to me.
As far as symbols, I believe that a scepter is a symbol of the Kings power, and also of His favor. Lowering the symbol to one unannounced was a sign of favor. I believe that bread is a symbol of life. The manna they ate in the OT was given daily, and I believe that is relevant to us a believers today that we seek Him for new life and food each day. I hope these are on the right lines. I tried to stay within the guidelines.
